Why using electric fatbikes?
Why using electric fatbikes, also called fat-tire bikes, for our adventures? That’s a question many of our guests ask us. Indeed it may sound weird, certainly because they are often also called ‘beach bike’ or ‘snow bike’. There is no beach or snow around Chiang Mai at all. The fat tires make that the bikes don’t suck in the loose snow or the loose sand and have good grip. An advantage that we also can profit from during the rainy season on some of our tours that include off-road tracks, which can be muddy at that time.
By adding the electromotor you have the advantage that you don’t feel the extra friction of the fat tires and the extra weight, it’s even easy riding. But you still have the advantage of more grip, extra suspension and extra stability. All you need for a comfortable ride.
Although there is no snow or beach in Chiang Mai there still are some good reasons for us to use the electric fatbikes:
Comfortable ride
1) The fat tires give a comfortable ride. They offer stability and a kind of suspension, which is nice on the sometimes bumpy Thai roads.
Beat the dust and mud
2) With the fat tires you can beat the dust and mud. As well in the dry and dusty season as in the rainy and muddy season we are able to explore natural areas on unpaved roads.
We just like it a lot
3) We used a fatbike for months in this area before Buzzy Bee Bike was founded and we just like it a lot.
